Carmen with Kentucky Opera

Composed by Georges Bizet
Libretto by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy

One of the most famous, and tragic, love stories of all time, Carmen tells an age old tale of love turned to jealously turned to hate. In it, Don José, an already troubled soul, falls for the rebellious and free-spirited Carmen at first sight. Though briefly interested, Carmen quickly loses interest in the uptight and possessive José, turning her attentions instead to the flashy and famous toreador, Escamillo. Don José, unable to handle Carmen’s rejection, is driven to despair and madness.

Chelsea be playing the role of Frasquita in Kentucky Opera’s production of Carmen.
