Le nozze di Figaro
Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Libretto by Lorezo Da Ponte
Among the most famous of Mozart’s operas, The Marriage of Figaro tells a tale of a complex love triangle between Countess Almaviva, her husband, and their serving maid Susanna. On the eve of Susanna’s marriage to Figaro, the Count Almaviva becomes determined to seduce her away from her husband. Having none of it, and faithful to the Countess, Susanna reveals his intentions to his wife, and together they conspire to trick the Count and teach him a lesson about deception and faithfulness. With a stunning score, a revolving cast of ridiculous, madcap characters and plot twists to make Shyamalan jealous, it’s no wonder that this opera continues to delight audiences well over 200 years after its premiere.
Chelsea will be playing the role of Barbarina in this production.
